Abrasive vs non-abrasive anti slip tape

Both types reduce slips, but they are made for different feet. Abrasive tape is built for shoes and heavy traffic; non-abrasive tape is built for bare feet and wet areas.
Abrasive (gritted) anti slip tape
Abrasive tape has a mineral grit surface on a PVC, PET or aluminum carrier. It gives the strongest grip under shoes and boots and is used on stairs, ramps, ladders, loading docks, machinery and industrial floors. See our anti slip tape range.
Non-abrasive anti slip tape
Non-abrasive tape replaces grit with a soft, textured surface such as PEVA or rubber. It is comfortable for bare feet and hands and is used in bathtubs, showers, around pools, on indoor stairs at home and on handrails. See our non-abrasive range.
Quick comparison
- Grip under shoes: abrasive is higher
- Comfort on bare feet: non-abrasive is better
- Typical places: abrasive for industry, commercial stairs and outdoors; non-abrasive for bathrooms, pools and homes
- Cleaning: non-abrasive surfaces are easier to wipe clean
Not sure which to choose?
Think about who walks on the surface and what they wear. If it is mainly shoes and heavy traffic, choose abrasive tape and the right grit (see how to choose anti slip tape). If people are often barefoot or the surface is regularly wet with soap, choose non-abrasive.
